15 Interesting Facts about T1 Faker

Lee Sang-hyeok better known by his in-game name Faker is considered as the best League of Legends player. With his Professional Team – SKT T1 (now T1), Faker has earned many individual awards along with 3 World Championships.

1. Faker was born on May 7, 1996, in Seoul, South Korea. He is turning 24 in 2020. His Horoscope is Taurus.

2. He was the youngest child in the family. He has an older brother. Both the brothers were raised by their father, Lee Kyung-joon, and their grandparents, as their mother has mostly been absent from their lives.

3. Faker began playing games at the age of 12. He exhibited his analytical skills as a teenager when he started creating custom maps for games such as ‘World of Warcraft III’ and the ‘MOBA’ title ‘Chaos.

4. Faker signed on with SKT Telecom TI in 2013 when he was only 17 years old. He dropped out of high school to go play for SKT but did say he wants to continue his education when he retires.

5. Faker was always on the lookout for more games to play. ‘League of Legends’ was already a world-renowned game in 2011, when Lee discovered it accidentally. Once he started playing the game, he got addicted to it. Within months, he became proficient in the game.

7. Faker is one of the highest-paid players in all competitive gaming. Faker is the only player to earn more than 1 million USD.

8. Faker lives pretty frugally, despite his high wages, as he spends only about $178 per month.

9. Faker is best known for playing LeBlanc, Cassiopeia, Zed, Orianna, Ahri, and Ryze in League of Legends.

10. Faker has often been praised as a god or the Demon King of League of Legends. He began rising to that title after his Zed outplay Ryu in the 2013 League of Legends World Championships.

11. Faker’s first stream on Twitch.tv was on December 6, 2017. His stream peaked at over 245,000 concurrent viewers, making it one of the most-watched stream hosted by an individual in Twitch history.

12. Faker has won many individual awards and honors since the beginning of his professional gaming career. In the 2013–2014 season, he won two ‘Pandora.TV Awards’ and two ‘Hot Six Awards.’ In 2015, he won the ‘Republic of Korea e-Sports Popularity Award,’ along with that year’s ‘Grand Prize.’ He was also awarded the ‘Republic of Korea e-sports Legends League Most Valuable Player Award’ in 2015 and the ‘World Championship Most Valuable Player’ in 2016.

13. Another big Faker moment was his emotional loss to Samsung Gaming in the 2017 World Championships. Faker, who is usually calm and composed, was seen crying at the end of the championship series.

13. Faker is given books and t-shirts from his fans. He has been known to wear shirts that were given by his fans. These shirts have the days of the week on them. 

14. He has a very shy nature and does not speak much about his personal life. Additionally, Faker does not know English and gives interviews with the help of a translator.

15. Faker believes the two flower pots in his house relieve his stress and help him cope with his busy gaming schedules.
