Riven can be said to be one of the most inspiring champions in League of Legends, not only because of her cool design and her “hard-to-play” mechanics but also the mysteries behind her legend.
1. Riven served with the Noxus army with Singed
While Singed was in the Noxus army, Riven and Singed’s unit escorted another legion to the battlefield in Navori. This legion is under Singed’s lead.
Known as the Mad Chemist, Singed was responsible for countless war crimes and was the one who created the fragile vase that Riven must accompany – which later destroyed Riven’s entire team and also almost killed her.
2. Riven fought Draven at Gladiatorial Pits
Sometime after deserting, Riven was captured by Noxus forces and taken to the arena. There, she fought in a “death-life arena” hosted by Draven. This encounter was shown in the Awaken cinematic, which is triggered when Riven’s fighting spirit intrigues the bored executioner and burns his battle hunger.
Although no one knows about the result of the match, it was fair to say that Riven’s fighting ability is way better than Draven’s humor.
3. It is Riven who is responsible for the death of Yasuo’s Master
Yasuo is known as the Unforgiven, but the most tragic is that his unforgivable crime isn’t even caused by him – it was caused by Riven and was completely an accident.
When Riven sought to break her sword – symbolizing her cult of Noxus, she met Elder Souma – the famous swordsman and master of Yasuo.
When they tried to break the sword, it emitted wind magic which was known to Yasuo and Yone. Riven fled, and accidentally killing Souma was the cause of Yasuo becoming the Unforgiven.
4. Riven’s sword is enchanted by LeBlanc
Riven’s sword is a magical item and a gift from Noxus in recognition of her service to the Empire. Such a powerful weapon can only be enchanted by an equally powerful sorcerer.
In LeBlanc’s Biography, it confirms that she is “Pale Sorceress” who assisted Boram Darkwill throughout the Noxian invasion.

Boram Darkwill was but the latest to learn this last answer for himself. Though the Black Rose had aided his bid for the throne, he refused the counsel of their hand-picked advisors, requiring LeBlanc to take drastic measures.
