Riot developers intend to extend Wild Rift to unique champions, making it available only on the mobile version
Riot is constantly releasing new League of Legends champions. Some of the champions from the PC game may subsequently appear in the mobile version, Wild Rift.
Samira and Sion were just introduced on Wild Rift, with rumors of Yone and Gwen circulating as well.
Riot has also been experimenting with exclusive content for the mobile version. They created exclusive skins for champions Xayah, Rakan, Orianna, Senna, and Seraphine as part of the Star Guardian event just now. As a result, it’s not unreasonable to believe that some champions may be built specifically for Wild Rift.
Riot’s new head of League Studio, Andrei Van Roon, has announced through an interview with Polygon that the company intends to develop exclusive champions for Wild Rift in the future.
“A few years down the road, once we’ve got everyone’s favorite champions over and so on, but then we’ll want to explore — what does a Wild Rift-unique champion look like?”
It’s no surprise to believe that certain champions will only be available in Wild Rift. Riot has previously created special characters for several of its other games, such as Norra, who was just added to Legends of Runeterra.
Wild Rift’s plan will ultimately separate from League PC’s. However, it will take time for this development to progress to the point where the devs can begin introducing new Wild Rift exclusive champions. In any event, it will certainly take a few years for Wild Rift to catch up to League PC.
There will be plenty of lore for the devs to draw on when it comes to the unique champions. However, only time will tell.
