Riot is attempting to correct their error in the Worlds 2022 event XP by issuing compensation
Riot Games released the Worlds 2022 event in League of Legends to commemorate the 2022 League of Legends World Championship. You can complete limited-time missions, collect tokens, and spend them to purchase Prestige skins, chromas, and icons as part of the tournament.
This event was part of the Spirit Blossom Missions and Worlds 2022 battle passes, which gained XP by completing missions related to both releases. The pass awarded rewards based on XP earned through missions. Despite the developers reworking the token system for the pass, the community is still dissatisfied with the event when compared to the 2019, 2020, and 2021 editions.
There wasn’t much buzz about the event at first, until someone started doing the math behind it. This sparked criticism from players, to which Riot responded.
According to a post on the League subreddit, this year’s Worlds pass contains 200 fewer tokens than the previous three years’ passes, despite the fact that weekly quests now provide 300 more tokens.
Originally, the seasonal events worked on the basis of you completing a series of missions that awarded you tokens. Aside from that, each match, whether normal or ARAM, would award you a certain number of tokens. However, you now have a list of milestones to complete in order to receive rewards.
“It was an honest mistake due to navigating new challenges that came with our first New Pass experience and launching at Worlds.”
Riot Sakaar commented on the Reddit post after it went viral, apologizing for the mistake. Riot will update the Empyrean Missions in Patch 12.21 with an additional 4400 Pass XP to compensate for the error. Riot Sakaar also stated that they will make certain that this does not happen again.
While Riot did fix the problem, it is still a recurring issue with passes that come with some concerns.
