Riot Games recently provided a development update that left Skarner players hanging without any specifics about the long-awaited rework. However, responding to the public outcry, developers assured fans that the much-anticipated overhaul for the champion is still in progress and will be unveiled soon.
Reworked Skarner coming soon to League of Legends
Skarner, a prominent champion in League of Legends, has been grappling with performance issues for quite some time. In Season 12, players collectively voted for him to receive a comprehensive rework along with a visual upgrade. Despite the eager anticipation surrounding the rework, fans have yet to experience the changes firsthand in the game.
The rework has faced delays, experiencing a setback in 2023, which raised concerns among the community. However, despite these challenges, the rework remains on schedule for release in the first half of 2024.
Fans were taken aback when Riot released a development update on February 29, 2024, without any mention of Skarner’s impending release, triggering another wave of apprehension among the community.
Jeremy ‘Brightmoon’ Lee, the outgoing executive producer on League of Legends, stepped in to allay the concerns of fans on Reddit. He reassured them that the rework is still in progress and even hinted that Skarner will be introduced on the PBE server sooner than expected.
Despite Riot’s previous reluctance to provide concrete timelines, fans found solace in Lee’s announcement, eagerly anticipating the imminent release of the delayed rework.
Remarkably, this will mark his second major rework since his introduction to the game in 2011. Throughout his existence, Skarner has struggled to secure a consistent position within the game’s ever-evolving meta, largely due to the limitations of his core design when compared to newer champions.
Nonetheless, the anticipation continues to grow as fans eagerly await the opportunity to experience the refreshed version of Skarner and witness his potential impact in League of Legends.
