Peanut’s career may be nearing an unfortunate end after a tough showing at Worlds 2024.
Coming into Worlds as the LCK’s No. 1 seed, Peanut HLE carried the hopes of an entire region to reclaim the world championship. This confidence only grew after they secured a solid 3-1 record in the Swiss stage, advancing confidently to the Quarterfinals. Many fans even saw Peanut and his squad as the favorites against BLG, given the LPL team’s shaky Swiss stage performance.
However, HLE’s performance in the Quarterfinals left fans deeply disappointed, as they fell 1-3 to BLG. Despite claiming the first game, HLE struggled in the following games, losing control from the laning phase through teamfights.
Peanut, who had shown promise early on, appeared increasingly out of sync, making minimal impact in the final games. This defeat hit hard for HLE and LCK fans alike, who were left with a sense of unfulfilled potential.
As Worlds 2024 wraps up, transfer rumors are already circulating, with sources in the LPL region suggesting HLE is planning significant roster changes. Reports hint that him and Doran are both expected to depart from the team. Although he is still under contract with HLE, it seems he has chosen to step back from competitive play, leaving HLE to handle the likely contract termination.
If true, Peanut’s career would end with many unfulfilled ambitions, especially his long-standing dream of winning Worlds, a title he’s chased with Gen.G, T1, and now HLE. Exiting on such a difficult note after the Quarterfinals loss to BLG casts a shadow over what has otherwise been a storied career, leaving fans and peers hoping Peanut will reconsider and find a more fitting end to his journey.
As of now, these developments are only rumors, with no confirmation from either HLE or Peanut himself.
