The preview for the final episodes of Arcane is here, and Season 2 Act 3 of the League of Legends series might showcase Ekko stepping up to save the day with his in-game abilities.
Riot Games has already made notable changes to LoL lore, which has been a major factor in the Netflix series’ success, attracting both long-time players and newcomers.
Yet, the show also includes subtle nods to the source material, sparking a wave of fan theories for the series’ climactic finale. One popular theory gaining traction since the release of Act 2 suggests Ekko might use his Zero Drive to manipulate time.
Ekko’s coming to save the day?
If true, this could mean Ekko undoes the tragic events of Episode 6, where chaos erupted at the commune. In that pivotal moment, Jayce accidentally killed Viktor along with his followers, and Isha fired the Hextech gun at Warwick. Rewinding time might allow Ekko to prevent these devastating events from unfolding.
Speculation about time manipulation began swirling last week. A fan on Twitter shared their thoughts:
“NAH I’m calling it now, the next Arcane episode will start with Ekko rewinding everything back in time. The way the explosion cut off seemed odd, almost as if it paused. The rolling coin/gear at the end was also strange. We saw it earlier about to stop completely, yet it’s moving again at the end. Time shenanigans are afoot. I am NOT in denial.”
Another intriguing detail is Ekko and Heimerdinger’s mysterious absence after seemingly being pulled into the anomaly. Fans are speculating that the duo might reappear in Act 3, using Ekko’s abilities to reverse time and prevent further destruction.
The trailer for Act 3 adds fuel to the theory. Around the 30-second mark, a fiery explosion sends glass shards outward, only for them to retract as if time itself is reversing. Following this, Vi is heard telling Jinx:
“If you come, use all that explosive potential of yours for good, maybe we could rewrite your story.”
While Vi’s words likely aim to inspire Jinx to make better choices, the phrase “rewrite your story” could subtly reference time travel.
Another chimed in:
“The shattered glass rewind effect is similar to the one from Season 1, Episode 3, after Viktor and Jayce’s Hextech breakthrough. Hoping for some big Ekko moments in the finale!”
Whether these theories hold true or not remains to be seen, but fans won’t have to wait much longer. Arcane Season 2 Act 3 drops on Netflix in just a few hours on November 23.
