New season, new League of Legends
Season 15 of League of Legends brings sweeping updates to Summoner’s Rift, kicking off 2025 with a Noxian-themed revamp. From map overhauls and new early-game systems to respawning Nexus turrets and reworked abilities like Teleport, the new season aims to immerse players in a dynamic and strategic experience, regardless of skill level.
Here’s a breakdown of the major updates coming to League in Season 15.
Feats of Strength and Tier 3 Boots
The Feats of Strength system replaces traditional gold rewards for First Blood and First Turret in League of Legends, introducing a best-of-three objective format to encourage early-game competition. Teams vie for three key goals:
- First Blood
- First Tower
- First Three Epic Jungle Monsters (e.g., Dragons, Void Grubs, and Rift Herald).
Securing two out of three Feats grants the Blessing of Noxus, which enhances your team’s tier-two boots. This bonus applies retroactively if you already own boots. Additionally, after completing two legendary items, players can upgrade their boots to tier three for 750 gold, unlocking new stats and unique passives.
For example:
- Plated Steelcaps (currently providing +25 armor and +45 movement speed):
- Tier 2 bonus: +5 additional armor.
- Tier 3 upgrade: Adds +5 movement speed and a passive granting a 10% max health shield for five seconds after taking physical damage (10-second cooldown).
Respawning Nexus Turrets
For the first time in League of Legends, Nexus turrets will respawn after being destroyed. Similar to inhibitors, they’ll regenerate at full health after a set cooldown. This change aims to prevent games from feeling hopeless after losing both Nexus turrets and reduces the reliance on “babysitting” the Nexus.
New Runes for Fresh Strategies
Season 15 introduces several new runes while retiring older ones to keep gameplay fresh and engaging:
- Axiom Arcanist (Sorcery Tree): Replaces Nullifying Orb. Increases ultimate damage, healing, or shielding and refunds cooldown on takedowns.
- Deep Ward (Domination Tree): Enhances Stealth Wards in the enemy jungle, granting bonus HP and extending duration by 30–120 seconds. At level 11, river-placed wards also gain these benefits.
- Sixth Sense (Domination Tree): Automatically tracks an enemy ward, revealing it for 10 seconds at level 11. It has a 300-second cooldown for melee champions and 360 seconds for ranged champions.
- Grisly Mementos (Domination Tree): Provides infinite Trinket Ability Haste for champion takedowns, replacing the adaptive bonuses from Eyeball Collector.
Teleport Rework
Teleport is getting a significant overhaul to balance its effectiveness in the early and late game. Instead of instantly blinking to a location, the ability now shows the champion visually traveling during the channel, slowing down its usage. The upgraded version, however, will retain its faster travel time.
This change aims to reduce Teleport’s dominance as an early-game “reset” tool while preserving its value for late-game global plays.
Release Date
Season 15 officially launches in January 2025, but players can explore the changes early on the PBE starting December 11, 2024, with Patch 25.S1.1. Alongside these updates, the patch will include a new battle pass, ranked adjustments, a fresh jungle monster, and other gameplay tweaks.
