After a game-changing issue was discovered in the match between Rogue and GAM Esports on October 9, Orianna will be disabled at Worlds 2022.
Just one day after Orianna made her Worlds group stage debut, Riot Games declared that she will be suspended from the competition until further notice. The choice was made in response to a Command: Shockwave (R) issue discovered during Rogue’s match against GAM Esports.
The bug appeared during a fight near Baron Nashor. The ability indication for Emil ‘Larssen’ Larssen’s casting of the Orianna ultimate in the clip is off.
It stated that a tiny area of impact would be created by casting the skill immediately on top of the character model. However, Orianna’s ball actually landed on Đặng ‘Kati’ Thanh Phê’s Viktor, who was a good distance away from her character model.
The spell’s entire region of influence was unseen due to the malfunctioning indication, making the ability almost impossible to dodge. The champion has now been disabled “until further notice,” despite the fact that GAM did not request a pause and was not thus given a chronobreak when the problem was first discovered.
Not the first Orianna bug
This particular bug has happened before, despite Riot’s claim that it was “newly found” in their announcement. It appears to have been included since since the Worlds patch (Patch 12.18) was released.
On October 3, well-known League YouTuber Vandiril posted a video about the glitch in which he shows the identical problem with the ultimate indicator as was witnessed in the GAM vs. RGE encounter.
After Udyr, who is ineligible owing to Riot Games’ rule that “new Champions and VGUs must be enabled for playoffs in all four of the top regions in order to be playable at the next international event,” Orianna is the second champion to be disabled for LoL Worlds 2022.
Although it’s unknown if and when Orianna will make a comeback, this ban would dramatically alter the draft process for many Worlds teams because she was a well-liked safe pick in the mid-lane.
