Akshan will be prohibited in pro leagues’ playoffs

Unfortunately, we will not be able to see the performances of Akshan in pro leagues soon…

The latest champion of LoL has not completed enough requirements to appear in pro leagues. Not only will he be banned from LEC, but Akshan will also be absent from other tournaments like LCK or LPL. If you have no idea of this rule, just take a look at the announcement on Twitter:

Previously, LEC teams have been asked that whether or not they wanted to use Akshan in this Summer’s playoffs, as The Rogue Sentinel would be definitely available in Worlds 2021. However, most of them answered no.

Akshan is now the newest champion of the game, which was officially released in patch 11.15. And according to RIot’s rule, he obviously cannot take part in pro leagues soon. This is completely different from Viego in the Spring Split since, at that time, he had so many bugs that Riot had not been able to handle with them for a while.

Due to the resurrecting mechanism, Akshan was said to bring to pro leagues tons of surprises with outstanding performances. However, in ranked, this champion is quite weaker than we expected before. His win rate is now the poorest among mid-lane champions, approximately 34-37% in all servers. This has forced Riot to continuingly provide him with two hotfixes to save him.

So, the community will have to wait until Worlds 2021 to see Akshan in pro tournaments. The largest one of LoL has been scheduled to take place in October 2021 in China.
