Akshan’s champion resurrection might be the target.
Akshan, the next League of Legends champion, will feature a revolutionary resurrection mechanic that has the potential to impact the entire game. However, this might seem different in ARAM mode.
In a Reddit post today, one fan expressed their concerns about the new marksman assassin, stating that his ability to resurrect allies “needs to have a cooldown” in ARAM. Gameplay analyst Ray “RayYonggi” Williams stated that there are plans to modify the random game mode’s balance.
“Good callout, we are planning some mitigating mechanics changes pre-ship I believe for ARAM,” Williams stated.
It’s unclear what “mitigating mechanics changes” Riot will do to support Akshan’s transition into ARAM, but they’ll almost certainly target his resurrection. When an ally champion is killed, Akshan’s Going Rogue (W) passive labels opponents as Scoundrels. When Akshan kills a Scoundrel, all teammates who were slain by that foe are revived at their base. With ARAM having a different speed and pace than Summoner’s Rift, Akshan would provide whoever gets him on their team a massive advantage.
The fan’s major concern is that if he kills a Scoundrel, he may “easily resurrect his team and stop a defeat.” Because one solid team fight may easily win you the game in the latter stages of an ARAM, reviving your teammates adds a layer of protection. In terms of the early game, the fan feels that the “couple of seconds” saved by The Rouge Sentinel’s revive will provide his side an advantage in terms of XP and money.
According to Surrenderat20 mod Spideraxe, Akshan’s Scoundrel duration, a debuff assigned to an enemy who kills one of your teammates, will be lowered from 60 seconds to 25 seconds on ARAM.
This isn’t the first time a champion’s kit has been tuned for ARAM mode. On the Howling Abyss, Ornn’s Living Forge passive, which allows him to buy non-consumable goods from anywhere on the map, has a cooldown. With players unable to base or buy things unless they die, Living Forge would allow Ornn to scale while the other team’s equipment could not be upgraded. Giving Akshan’s Going Rogue a comparable cooldown would likely prevent such imbalances from occurring.
On Wednesday, July 21, Akshan’s Patch 11.15 should be available on the Rift due to the official patch schedule of League of Legends.
