Though Arcane is fully centered around existing champions in League of Legends, Ambessa Medarda is the first character from the show to officially enter the game. Here’s everything we currently know about her, including her expected release and a preview of her appearance in the game.
It’s important to note that the only available leaks related to Ambessa Medarda’s in-game look are from Wild Rift rather than League of Legends. However, both versions of Ambessa are anticipated to be released around the same time, likely as part of a promotion for the upcoming Arcane 2.
With the second and final season of Arcane just around the corner, fans can expect Ambessa Medarda to be introduced soon. Leaks regarding her in-game model and character details have surfaced, indicating that her development is nearing completion.
Release date
As of now, there is no official release date for Ambessa Medarda, though we do have a confirmed release date for Arcane Season 2. The first act of the season is set to be released on November 9, with additional episodes dropping in batches every week, concluding on November 23.
It’s reasonable to expect that Ambessa Medarda will be released on or near these dates to align with the release of the show in both League of Legends and Wild Rift, provided there are no delays in her development.
Across their social platforms, Riot Games offered fans a “sneak peek” of their upcoming celebrations for Arcane across all their games, including more details about Ambessa Medarda.
The developers also hinted that Ambessa’s influence would “extend beyond the Rift,” as she is also planned to be a playable character in Legends of Runeterra’s Path of Champions mode. Additionally, she will be a playable unit in Teamfight Tactics (TFT).
Ambessa Medarda’s abilities
While we don’t have a complete list of her abilities yet, some information has been revealed about her playstyle and role in the game.
Ambessa Medarda is a semi-ranged top lane bruiser, according to leaks. Early footage of her in Wild Rift has drawn comparisons to Kratos from God of War, and the similarities are difficult to ignore.
Her in-game appearance differs significantly from how she looked in the first season of Arcane. In this version, she is seen wearing full battle armor, which suggests she may be more involved in combat in the second season of the show.
Additionally, leaks have revealed some new Wild Rift skins for popular champions like Jinx and Vi, with rumors suggesting that Viktor may receive a full VFX update and rework tied to Arcane. However, it remains to be seen whether there will be any other brand-new champions from the Arcane universe apart from Ambessa.
For now, that’s all the current information we have about Ambessa Medarda’s debut in League of Legends.
