Ambessa Medarda, the first Arcane character to be appeared in League of Legends
Although Arcane centers around existing champions from League of Legends, Ambessa Medarda stands out as the first character from the show to transition into the game. Below is everything we currently know about her.
Interestingly, the only leaks we’ve seen concerning Ambessa Medarda’s in-game appearance are related to Wild Rift, not League of Legends. However, it seems both versions of the character are expected to launch around the same time. This coordinated release is aimed at promoting Arcane Season 2.
With the second and final season of Arcane fast approaching, Ambessa Medarda’s arrival in the game should be soon. There have already been leaks about her in-game model, showing that her character is nearly finished.
Though an official release date hasn’t been announced for Ambessa herself, Arcane Season 2 does have a confirmed schedule. The first act of the new season will drop on November 9, 2024, with episodes released weekly in batches, concluding by November 23, 2024.
It’s reasonable to expect that Ambessa Medarda’s release will coincide with these dates, or shortly after, in both League of Legends and Wild Rift. However, there have been some challenges at Riot Games, as layoffs were confirmed to have impacted the development cycle of new champions. Nevertheless, the team is committed to launching all announced champions on schedule, including Ambessa.
While we don’t yet have full details on her abilities, there are some hints about Ambessa Medarda’s role in the game. She is expected to be a semi-ranged bruiser intended for the top lane.
Leaked footage from Wild Rift has drawn comparisons between Ambessa and Kratos from God of War, and it’s easy to see the similarities.
Visually, Ambessa’s in-game appearance is quite different from how she was portrayed in the first season of Arcane. This time around, she is seen wearing battle armor. This shift in her look suggests a more action-oriented role in the upcoming season.
Additionally, there have been leaks of new Wild Rift skins for characters like Jinx and Vi, and there are even rumors that Viktor will receive a full visual update and rework related to Arcane.
It’s unclear whether any other new champions from Arcane will be added to the game beyond Ambessa Medarda, but for now, she remains the only confirmed champion making the jump from the show.
That’s all the information we currently have about Ambessa Medarda’s debut in League of Legends. More updates will surely follow as we get closer to the release of Arcane Season 2 and her official arrival in the game.
