It is official, Arcane season 2 is not coming in 2023
Riot Games CEO Nicolo Laurent revealed in a recent interview that Arcane Season 2 will not be released in 2023. Many League of Legends fans have been waiting for the next season since the blockbuster animated adaption gained enormous popularity in 2021.
The second season of Arcane was announced immediately after the first season concluded, although nothing concrete has been established for the future. Riot Games CEO Nicolo Laurent recently announced that there will be no 2023 Arcane Season 2 premiere, putting many fans’ expectations to rest.
League of Legends Arcane season 2
Riot Games’ CEO says that there will be no more Arcane this year in a recent video posted to the Chinese social media platform Bilibili. During it, Nicolo Laurent was asked by a Chinese fan when the second season will be released.
“I just watched the third episode of season 2, before my flight to China. We’re making progress on it. It’s not ready yet.”
“There are two reasons for that, you want the quality, we just don’t want to rush, and so that takes time, and that’s a good reason. The bad reason is that, honestly, we didn’t know if season 1 was going to be a success. So, we didn’t start season 2 until after.”
“If I’d known, we could have started season 2 way earlier, but we didn’t know so we kind of waited a bit and so now we’re paying the price.””
Some fans may be surprised by this, considering the announcement of the second season contained voice acting, implying the shooting had already begun. Instead, Riot Games seemed to have played it safe and waited to see how Arcane fared. Whatever the cause, Arcane’s next season should be released in 2024, rather than this year.
