Arcane characters in their own spin off series?
Let’s face it: the post-Arcane blues are very real. Though the final episode aired over a month ago, fans of the Netflix series are still reeling from its emotional impact—and many can’t stop thinking about the potential for more stories from the Arcane universe.
A recent Reddit post on the Arcane subreddit has sparked a lively debate about a brighter prospect: which character from the hit series deserves their own spin-off? While there were several contenders, one name stood out above the rest—Ekko.
“Ekko is the character that needs a spin-off the most,” the Redditor argued. “Several deleted scenes involving his character and backstory were cut from Arcane. We never got to fully explore his journey or development.”
Many fans echoed Ekko, pointing to a response from Arcane writer Amanda Overton that revealed cut scenes between Ekko and Jinx. These moments, intended to show their interactions during preparations for the climactic conflict with Ambessa, were ultimately removed.
According to the writers, the scenes were excluded because they felt like a “rehashing” of Ekko and Powder’s interactions in an alternate universe. However, fans disagreed, arguing that Jinx and Powder are fundamentally different characters shaped by distinct experiences.
A spin-off centered on Ekko could give fans the content they crave, including more insight into his role with the Firelights and Zaun’s recovery efforts after Viktor’s influence.
It could even explore Ekko’s thoughts on reconnecting with Powder and his impact on Zaun’s future. Judging by the Reddit thread, it’s clear that fans are eager to dive deeper into Ekko’s story.
Other fans proposed Vander as a strong candidate for a prequel spin-off. With his pivotal role in Zaun’s history and his complex relationship with Silco, a show focusing on Vander could explore the events that set Arcane into motion.
Another popular suggestion was a spin-off starring Vi and Caitlyn as the crime-fighting duo hinted at in League of Legends. While season 2 gave us glimpses of their partnership, a full series could expand on their dynamic while exploring Zaun and Piltover.
The good news? Riot Games has confirmed at least one new show is already in development, as shared by Arcane co-creator Christian Linke (via GamesRadar). While it likely won’t be a direct continuation of Arcane, Riot has teased plans to explore other regions in the League universe, such as Noxus and Demacia.
So, while fans may have to wait for their dream spin-offs involving Piltover and Zaun’s characters, there’s plenty to be excited about as Riot expands its storytelling horizons.
