On September 7, 2022, League of Legends released the first official image of the brand-new Ashen Knight Sylas skin, which is slated to be released alongside patch 12.18. After Ashen Knight Pyke and Ashen Knight Pantheon, this is the third skin line addition.
Fans reacted positively to Pyke’s skin in a big way, but Pantheon ended up facing a lot of criticism. Players, therefore, anticipated that the following skin in the lineup would be excellent and uphold Pyke’s standards. Unfortunately, Sylas’ skin did poorly and ended up drawing even harsher criticism.
The Ashen Knight skin line’s main concept is to symbolize corrupted warriors from a fallen kingdom that was formerly ruled by a very successful king. Fans of League of Legends believe that it should therefore have fallen knights feel to it.
Unfortunately, neither the Ashen Knight Sylas nor the Ashen Knight Pantheon skins resemble actual knights. Fans are sick of Riot Games’ overall skin design, which consists of just drawing shirtless males and coloring them purple.
When Pyke’s skin was introduced, many thought it had a really unique vibe. Sadly, this updated Sylas version merely has the purple chroma of very common skin.
In summary, a sizable segment of the League of Legends fanbase is upset with Riot Games because they feel that little effort is being put into the Ashen Knight skins. As a result, Sylas’ skin has fallen short of the expectations that Pyke’s skin raised.
This is due to the high cost of the Ashen Knight skins, which are only available through Mythic Essence. The only way to receive a significant portion of the resource is through event passes, so getting it is a laborious procedure.
As a result, if fans dislike the skins, they will just stop buying them, which will result in a negative situation for both parties. It will be unjust for fans to anticipate a redesign of the Ashen Knight Sylas skin from Riot Games.
Hopefully, fan feedback will make future Ashen Knight skins more appealing to fans and better in terms of both design and thematic relevancy.
