League of Legends is set to undergo a major overhaul in 2025 with the introduction of seasonal updates. Among the most notable changes coming to the Summoner’s Rift map is the arrival of a new jungle monster named Atakhan, an ancient, violent, and bloodthirsty creature.
The next season will revolve around the theme of Noxus and span approximately eight patches, lasting around 16 weeks. Atakhan’s design and abilities align perfectly with the Noxian theme, both in appearance and power.
Here’s everything you need to know about the new epic jungle monster.
Atakhan’s Spawn Time and Location
Atakhan is a new permanent jungle monster in Summoner’s Rift, debuting in Season 1. It spawns only once per game at the 20-minute mark.
The spawn location of it is determined by activity in the early game. It will appear in either the top or bottom lane area, depending on which side has inflicted more champion damage and secured more kills within the first 14 minutes. Once determined, Atakhan’s lair will manifest, with two permanent walls marking its territory and signaling its arrival, giving teams ample time to plan their strategy.
Two Forms, Rewards, and Blood Roses
Atakhan features two distinct forms, each providing unique buffs:
Ruinous Form
Reward: Bloody Petals
- Enhances all Epic monster rewards for the team that defeats him.
- Summons a grove of Blood Roses, which anyone can collect.
Blood Roses Effect:
- Periodically grows in areas where champions have died.
- Grants XP and permanent stacking Adaptive Force to teams for each rose collected.
Voracious Form
- Reward: Rebirth Buff: Grants all team members a one-time resurrection effect similar to Guardian Angel.
Why Riot Games Introduced Atakhan
Riot Games designed Atakhan to add a high-stakes, strategic objective to Summoner’s Rift. Its introduction will impact team decisions regarding fights and positioning, as well as influence the outcome of matches. By tying its spawn location and form to the early-game dynamics, Riot aims to ensure each game feels unique and dynamic.
Changes to Rift Herald and Baron Nashor Spawn Times
To accommodate Atakhan’s appearance at 20:00, Riot has adjusted the spawn times for other major objectives:
- Rift Herald now spawns at 16:00.
- Baron Nashor’s spawn has been pushed back to 25:00.
These changes aim to create a powerful mid-game objective without prolonging matches unnecessarily. The adjustment also aligns with players’ tendencies to delay taking Baron Nashor immediately upon its spawn at 20:00.
Atakhan promises to bring a new layer of depth and strategy to League of Legends, offering teams an opportunity to alter the flow of the game through its unique mechanics and rewards. Prepare to adapt, strategize, and fight for control of this fearsome jungle beast in 2025!
