Riot says that Bel’Veth is not the monstrous champion released this year, but rather something even more horrific coming soon
Riot hasn’t launched a real monstrous champion in a long time. Yuumi was the most recent non-humanoid champion in League of Legends, and she marked the beginning of humanoid champions; yet, Riot classified Yuumi as a non-monstrous creature.
For a long time, fans have been requesting additional non-humanoid champions. Riot addressed the problem in a Dev post, explaining why more humanoid champions were being released. They also mentioned a monstrous champion expected for 2022.
Bel’Veth is the League’s 160th champion and the next Void jungler. Though her release date was previously pushed back, Riot has now published a teaser for her. Bel’Veth appears in the teaser as a humanoid creature that transforms into a monster. According to her revealed abilities, the monster form is her ultimate form. As a result, most of the time, Bel’Veth will appear to be a humanoid champion in-game.
The majority of the fans were convinced that Bel’Veth was the monster champion that Riot mentioned last year. However, some were skeptical since Bel’Veth seemed to be a hybrid of monster and human at the same time.
Eventually, Riot Reav3 responded to a Reddit thread by verifying that Bel’Veth is not the monstrous champion they previously discussed. She was considerably closer to becoming a monster because she was originally designed as a monstrous human.
Riot Reav3 revealed that the next true monstrous champion would be released this year. However, their new tactic of slowing down and updating old champions means that the release date has been pushed back slightly.
So, the bad news is that instead of later this year, fans should expect the next monstrous champion in early 2023. However, on the other side, fans can eventually see a full-form monstrous creature far more terrifying than the Empress of the Void after a long time of waiting.
