A recent update teases the entrance of a brand-new champion, after the release of the mid-lane Darkin Assassin, Naafiri. Briar, the voracious Jungler who was first teased last year, may emerge sooner than the community expected.
Updates on Briar – League’s upcoming champion
Following a small tease in recent developer update video, Riot Meddler, director of the League studio, has provided fans with a bit more clarity on when they might get their hands on Briar, the “hangry” jungler who is presently cloaked in mystery.
“You’ll see her on PBE at least between now and the next dev update. Dev updates are generally 4-6 weeks apart, though timing will vary depending on what else is going on and how much we’ve got ready to talk about.”
Meddler described this in a Reddit post. He mentioned that dev updates are normally slated to be delivered between four to six weeks of one another, however this is not a set timeframe, so any impending information on Briar may not be precise.
Briar’s name, Noxian ancestry, and hungry desire are the only things known about her for now. Developers have emphasised this vampire-like champion’s need to continually feed on someone in all of the occasions Riot has referenced her this year.
They also displayed a picture of a castle that looked to have sprung right out of a Dracula-esque film. As a result, many speculate that she is similar to a vampire, driven by an insatiable appetite.
BigBadBear, League’s famous leaker, has also released a video on Briar. In it, besides information of her release date, he also believed that she will be an AD diver similar to Vi and J4.
What’s more, Briar is also rumoured to be a young vampire girl. And, given the recent ‘niche’ releases of champions like as Bel’Veth, Naafiri, and K’Sante… a more made-to-be-popular design is highly possible.
Given the timeframe that the champion will be released before the next Dev Blog Update, she’ll likely be revealed in Patch 13.16, 13.17, or 13.18 on Aug 16, 30, and Sept 13 consequently.
