What’s of note is that Elite500 is a rather stoic streamer, who is rarely toxic and the worst you’ll see him do is being sarcastic about his teammates, but only to his chat, not in-game.
In fact the entire time he was streaming League in Korea, the worst word that he used was n*utsack when a tilted Korean player was wishing his mother get cancer and die. Guess who Riot KR decided to ban?
This isn’t the first time Riot KR has banned a foreigner for no apparent reason
Fellow popular streamer and youtuber Cowsep was infamously banned by Riot Korea in 2018 after criticizing the toxicity and xenophobia in the Korean League server, and Riot KR’s inaction to it. Riot KR then decided to take action and … banned Cowsep permanently for giving them bad press. He has since dedicated effort to expose more of Riot KR’s ridiculous verdicts.
Here’s his take on Elite500’s ban
THE Tyler1 himself has also spoken up about his time in Korea and the amount of griefing, inting and xenophobia ANY foreigner receives on Korean server. If you say anything not Korean in chat, expect a shitshow to follow.
Any League, or MOBA game server for that matter, has its own toxicity problem, but the reason KR stands out is that Riot KR themselves are complicit. As they are a separate entity from main Riot HQ in the US, there is hardly repercussion nor anything anyone can do about them. Most recently, they had banned ALL Vietnamese pro accounts from their server, also with no reason given.
The best we can do is continuing to expose their behavior, giving them the bad press that they’re so desperately afraid of and have a few laughs in solidarity with the affected. Where there is tyranny, the community’s gotta have each other’s back.
