How the new Challenges system changes League’s lobby, loading screen, endgame menu, and more

League of Legends’ progression identity is being updated, with a whole new Challenges progression tab and other features as well

Riot Games has introduced a new progression system that will allow players to showcase various forms of progression across all game modes. Individual challenges can also be leveled up from Iron to Master, with some even having their own Grandmaster and Challenger tiers.

To coincide with the debut of Challenges in League of Legends, Riot Games are entirely revamping the “Progression identity” to include Challenge scoring and other features.

A new Challenges page will be introduced to the profile tab, where players may keep track of their task. When a player advances in a given challenge, their total score improves, and the crystal on the left transforms from Iron to Challenger.

Every challenge will have its own distinctive token icon. You may also view the title of the challenge and what is required to begin earning levels for the card. The card also indicates how many points are being added to your total Challenges score, as well as the settings in which the challenge might be active.

League’s Challenges system will also see substantial graphic changes. The game lobby has been changed to accommodate the new features. Even the loading screen has been modified so that the champion cards have three sides, each with its own information.

Following the end of a match, there will be two post-game tabs: the Progression tab and the Scoreboard.

The Progression tab displays the splash image for the champion currently being played, as well as monitoring LP, Mastery, and XP achieved. Below that are all of the Challenges, as well as how far they have progressed.

The scoreboard is also receiving some attention. On the left, faded champion skin splash art for each player, K/DA, and role will now be displayed. On the right, this will show the Challenge players who have made the most progress. These adjustments do not change the wheel, but they do make the scoreboard simpler to read and more visually appealing.

According to Riot, even though the system has been launched, the devs aren’t quite don’t with it yet as new features will be included as time goes on. Riot has more planned for the remainder of the year, including an upcoming feature called Banner Skins that will allow players to show off their former rankings with elegance and class.
