In Patch 12.16, the League of Legends devs finally corrected Zyra’s clunkiness
The lead game designer, Matt “Phroxzon” Leung-Harrison, teased in the teaser for the upcoming patch that Zyra would have a 0.15 seconds “postcast” lockup on her Grasping Roots (E) instead of 0.15 to 0.4 seconds. This essentially implies that after casting the ability, players will be able to move significantly faster, which is critical to her gameplay.
In the comparative video below, players can plainly see how much faster the champion can move after casting her E, which reduces her chances of being targeted with a skillshot or any casting ability.
Zyra is considered a very invulnerable champion by players as a long-ranged poking support compared to other champions. Furthermore, the champion has a deadly flaw, which is her mobility, which may be easily exploited. As a result, Riot decided to make a tweak for her in patch 12.16.
Some players are pleased with the improvement and eager to put it to the test on the live servers.
The feedbacks, however, appeared to be mixed. Others don’t think the tweak will be enough for Zyra to rise back in the meta. While her E’s extended postcast has been an issue, she still has other problems, including as her low health, which makes them completely worthless in the late game.
