Riot outlines detailed changes coming to items including Grievous Wounds buffs and healing items adjustments in League Patch 11.4

In addition, Cosmic Drive will receive a new passive in League patch 11.4.

Concerning the domination of healing items in the first few patches of season 11, several notable items are being changed to better balance survivability. Mark “Scruffy” Yetter, the League’s gameplay design director, today unveiled changes to items in the updated patch 11.4 preview. This time around, buffs and nerfs are being reached a relatively smaller pool of items with a major focus on reducing the massive healing that has been enjoyed by many champions.

The only item being nerfed in this patch is Moonstone Renewer. Since the beginning of season 11, thanks to its low cost of the item tied in and the effectiveness in team healing has contributed to the development in tactics using this support item outside the bot lane. As a result, Riot is reducing the base heal from 70 to 100 to 50 to 100, now scaling with champion level. Notably, Staff of Flowing Water, the item Moonstone Renewer has often been paired with due to its healing synergy, isn’t being nerfed.

Cosmic Drive, which is introduced in the preseason to be a new AP, Ability Haste and movement speed-granting Legendary item, however, has been fairly underused. Its effect is therefore completely changed, players is now granted an additional 20 Ability Haste and 10 to 30 movement speed. To compensate for these massive shifts, the AP it grants is being lowered from 30 to 20.

Grievous Wounds items are being buffed as well to further compensate for the amount of healing in League, even after the nerfs to Moonstone Renewer. The changes are not significant, but they will make the items more enticing for champions who want to control the game without the fear that they won’t get sufficient stat bonuses.

The latest AD Grievous Wounds support item, Chempunk Chainsword, will boost its health from 150 to 250. Mortal Reminder will be more appealing to champions that build AD with an increase from 20 AD to 25 AD. In the meantime, Morellonomicon has seen some fluctuations in and out of the meta since the start of season 11 but is aiming to make a more prominent stay with an increase from 70 to 80 AP.

This updated Patch 11.4 preview indicates adjustments that are in development and may not be final until they hit live servers. League Patch 11.4 is scheduled to be launched on Feb. 18.
