In season 11, there is another option for Mages with Grievous Wounds – Chemtech Putrifier
In order to counter healing effect in Season 11, Riot released Chemtech Putrifier as another option beside Morellonomicon. Although, this item is not being used regularly by players.
Most of players are familiar with Morellonomicon, due to its high AP stat. However, in some cases, Chemtech Putrifier is more useful.
At first, lets take a look at their stats:
Morellonomicon
+ 70 AP
+250 health
Chemtech Putrifier
+50 AP
+15 ability haste
+100% base mana regeneration
Chemtech Putrifier also has Grievous Wounds effect like Morellonomicon, but it does not require the target to have lower than 50% HP in order to reach full power. Chemtech Putrifier inflicts 60% Grievous Wounds to immobilized Champions, and most of Mages have CC in their skills. It will be easier to deal tons of damage
Morellonomicon in Season 11 does not bring magic penetration stat anymore, so that 20AP higher is not really a big deal in compare to Chemtech Putrifier. Moreover, 15 ability haste and 100% base mana regeneration from Chemtech Putrifier is super useful for Mages.
In addition, it costs only 2300 gold, as a result, this item is very suitable with Support Mages. Lux, Morgana, Zyra, Brand, Vel’Koz, … can trigger Grievous Wounds quite easy and overcome enemy in many situations.
