Day 2 of Worlds Main Event caught a lot of League fans by surprise: European teams went 3-0 while the famed Korean LCK ended the day 0 for 3. NA LCS continues their losing streak on home turf dropping another 2 games, while the Chinese assert their dominance winning all 3 matchups of the day.

EU LEC went beast mode on day 2 of Worlds
Not many expected this outcome. Despite being one of the main regions in LoL, European teams have always struggled internationally against the giants of the League world in the East, the formidable Chinese LPL and legendary Korean LCK. That was not the case in New York yesterday.
LEC 1st seed Rogue (soon to be KOI) kicks off day 2 of Worlds facing Korean 4th seed DRX, who went undefeated 5-0 in the Play-ins. DRX were quickly handed their 1st loss at this year’s Worlds as they stood no chance against Comp and Trymbi’s Lucian/Nami. The Trundle Jungler pick and Odoamne’s brilliant Maokai toplane completely shut down any hope of DRX winning a team fight and LEC got their 1st upset of the day.
The Europeans are not done. Immediately after it’s G2 Esports delivering a beatdown onto Evil Geniuses. Jojopyun’s Sett was completely shut down going 0-4-0, and Inspired Nidalee Jungle pick did absolutely nothing for the NA boys. With this win, Jankos has actually gone 17-0 against Inspired in Bo1. Ouch.
Finally, Fnatic takes on the toughest opponent of the day for EU: Korean 2nd seed T1. Well turns out it wasn’t so tough. Upset delivered the biggest upset of the day (heh) as the classic Lucian/Nami completely ran over T1. Humanoid, who in fact lost to many other midlaners in the LEC, churned out a 7-0-7 Azir against THE Faker himself.

After going 0-2 against LEC, LCK turned to Worlds 2021 runner-ups DAMWON Gaming for help. But who’s gonna help DWG against LPL 1st seed JD Gaming?
DWG secured an early networth lead against the Chinese and it looked as though LCK might not end the day winless. But they’re up against probably the best teamfighting squad at Worlds. JDG just seems to be able to effortlessly outfight any team and take the victory for themselves, despite League having always been a very snowbally game.
Off a 9-0-7 ADC Kaisa from Hope and a clutch final teamfight, the Chinese denied the LCK their last hope for a victory on day 2 of Worlds.
Cloud9 were taken down by EDward Gaming and GAM Esports stood 0 chance against LPL 2nd seed Top Esports to close out day 2 3-0 for LPL and 0-2 for LCS.
Not much hope for an upset in the remaining 2 Bo1s for day 2 of Worlds. LPL teams quickly dispatched the 2 minor region teams without much contest. EDG toplaner Flandre rotated mid twice, got 2 kills on C9.Jensen and was still ahead in last hits compared to C9’s toplaner Fudge.
