We will walk you through how to dominate with Twisted Fate just like Dopa.
Overview
Twisted Fate – The Card Master is not a mechanically difficult champion. So why higher elo players are able to fully maximize his potential better than lower elo players? First, let’s discuss his pros and cons.
Pros:
- He has a 2-second point-and-click stun, which is incredibly powerful.
- With his ultimate – Destiny, he can quickly rotate about half of the map since League of Legends has a fairly small map size.
- He can split push just like a top laner and takedown towers fast.
Cons:
- He has one of the weakest laning phase when compared to other competitors.
- He doesn’t have any escape ability to evade ganks.
- If he’s snowballed and got behind, he basically lacks damage and creates none pressures when ganking.
Check out how Dopa – the best TF player, minimizes these cons we mentioned above that he makes TF in his hands become unstopable.
TF’s Game Flow
Early Game
Twisted Fate is most likely to lose trades in early games because he barely has any damage. So trading and controlling creep wave is essentially important to the point it may decide the whole match’s fate.
- When trading in the early game, if your opponents want to trade with you, make sure they are standing near caster minions, and don’t hesitate to use Corrupting Potion. On the other hand, when you want to trade, try not to take damage from enemy minions.
- Wave management – the most important factor to determine how successful TF is in the late game. If you mess up, you can only use your Q to farm. The key is to hold the minion wave in front of your tower by keeping enemies minions 1 to 2 more than yours.
- If you freeze the wave as the picture is shown below, your enemies constantly receive pressure from ganks. They can’t start a trade because you are too near to the tower. On lower elo, they will even miss more CS since they have more caster minions.
- Keep counting the number of minions in your head, if there are too many enemy minions, use Red Card + Q to reduce the pressure.
- Patiently farm in the lane and wait for your Jungler ganks to guarantee a kill by using Yellow Card.
- When you want to recall or roam, use your Q and Minion Dematerializer to clear fast.
- To clear waves fast, throw Q when minions are lined up. From level 5, you can clear a whole wave with 2 Q.
- When TF reachs level 6, the real game now has officially begun.
Mid to Late Game
- You can now join a fight in either lane to make it a 2v1 or 3v1 situation.
- Try to split push whenever you can. Your enemies will be forced to defend, use your Ultimate to initiate a 5v4 teamfight.
- In teamfight, use your Q and Yellow Card to protect your Marksman – stopping enemy Bruisers. Stay alive as long as you can, every single Yellow Card can mean every single kill you get. Alternatively, you can use your Ultimate to catch their Marksman if you’re confident enough.
TF’s Tips and Tricks
- When throwing W, use ‘Target Champions Only’ key to make sure you hit the right one.
- If they are running away, target them first then hit Flash, TF will automatically attack them.
- Yellow Card is not always the best choice. The Red Card’s range is quite big, use it to poke safely. Use Blue Card when you fight with enemies who ignore your CC (Olaf Ultimate, Morgana E).
- You can still pick a card after activating Zhonya’s Hourglass.
