Canyon appears to be practicing a variety of unusual playstyles with Akshan Jungle in achieving strong performance in the forthcoming playoffs.
On March 17, after the intense LCK Spring 2022 matchups resumed, with the focus on the top 3 rivalries between DWG KIA and DragonX. It should be noted that, prior to this match, DRX had four consecutive victories, therefore many people anticipated them to overcome a DK that had not been doing well in recent times.
However, in the most vital matches, the star’s level has spoken, and it is DK’s Canyon. Canyon assisted ShowMaker in achieving power milestones and eventually dominating the whole game in game 1. Canyon is even the team captain in game 2, with Graves’s massive damage dealt. Canyon’s performance in this match demonstrated that he is still an all-around Jungler and major team responsibility for DK. Canyon also revealed recently to Korean media that he is training some unusual champions in the jungle in preparation for the upcoming playoffs.
“In recent days, I’ve been training Akshan Jungle in solo queue. The result was pretty good because I won a lot. You will start with E when going jungle but it feels like he is still quite slow to farm. So, I don’t think I’m going to use him in the playoffs.”
Indeed, Canyon has been quite busy in recent days with Akshan Jungle and playing extremely aggressive. He doesn’t even use Flash, but instead Ignite to increase his chances of having an early takedown with Akshan whenever he ganks. Akshan may generate surprising ganks and force the opponent to lose the lane by being able to conceal incredibly uncomfortable from W and dealing a huge amount of damage at the start of the game.
Of course, Canyon has stated that he is not prepared to take this card to the playoffs because it is too risky. However, we cannot throw out the potential that DK may make similar decisions for Canyon in order for him to carry the team. Remember that in the match versus T1, DK Canyon picked Gwen Jungle and it was extremely effective.
For now, Canyon is DK’s best hope in the upcoming playoffs, and, if not, their best hope in winning against T1.
