Doublelift got punished by Riot after commenting on LCS’s viewership

Former League of Legends pro player Yiliang “Doublelift” said that Riot Games had slammed his channel for the second time after he mentioned the LCS’s viewership during his livestream

Following MrBeast’s League of Legends Ultimate Crown event, Doublelift revealed on his stream that Riot Games refused to let Team Liquid’s mid-laner Sren “Bjergsen” to compete in the massively influential tournament.

Then he continued to criticize Riot Games, claiming that such actions have resulted in a steady decline in LCS viewership.

“LCS is dying. The viewership is absolutely dying. There’s no denying it. Everyone knows it.”

As a result of those remarks, during a recent stream on July 14, former professional player Doublelift stated that his critical comments landed him in hot water with Riot Games, that he has been suspended from co-streaming the league’s games this weekend, and he mockingly apologized for trying to make them.

“And as a token of my apology, I wanted to correct my statement. LCS is not dying, and they’re not stupid. Actually, the League is thriving, and I wanted to show you guys”

The League’s strike system for co-streamers has several complexities. Earlier in his engagement with Riot, Doublelift received another strike while viewing a YouTube video live stream that was ‘inappropriate.’

“I got my second strike which means I can’t co-stream this upcoming weekend of LCS. I know, I can’t. Yeah, RIP the co-stream, guys.”

Doublelift is a well-known and recognizable North American professional League of Legends player who first competed at the highest levels of the game in 2011.

Even though he was hit by Riot for making such provocative statements about viewership, it does carry some truth since the average viewing of LCS is substantially lower than in other major regions.
