Riot Games and the LCS “banned” Bjergsen from competing in MrBeast’s LoL Ultimate Crown event, according to former professional player Doublelift
The Ultimate Crown event went beyond the conventional best-of-three format. MrBeast and Ninja, both content creators, lead their teams into battle at Las Vegas’ HyperX Arena in what has been labeled the final clash.
Doublelift was on Ninja’s team at MrBeast’s tournament, and on his stream following the event, the former LCS champion was asked whether he had any views on the claim that Bjergsen was prohibited from competing in that event by Riot Games.
“Don’t even get me started on that. That is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever f****** heard and that rumor is basically confirmed.”
He later verified the question, claiming that it would have been good for the LCS to let Bjergsen compete in the Ultimate Crown event from a marketing standpoint.
His argument was that, given that LCS audience is expected to decline in 2022, it would have made sense for the organization to enable one of its most famous players to participate in an event among some of the most significant content creators in the production world.
Someone in the background also appeared to tell him not to talk about the matter, but he continued emphasizing that people needed to know.
Bjergsen has yet to comment on the issue or the accusations made by Doublelift. Eventually, MrBeast’s squad won a sweep against Doublelift and Ninja’s teams, with over 100,000 spectators watching and $200,000 given to charity.
