Following T1, DWG KIA fans sent harsh demands to the League of Legends team ahead of Worlds 2022
On August 16, the “DWG KIA minor gallery,” an online community of DWG KIA fans, issued a five-page statement demanding that the team fire head coach Yang “Daeny” Dae-in. Fans have cited the team’s drop in level and poor performance in the LCK this split, as well as a lack of interaction with the community.
According to the translation from InvenGlobal, the fans have repeatedly demanded that the head coach resign, citing several reasons why they believe he should do so:
- The continued nonsensical drafts that left the fans, as well as the experts in the scene unable to understand them
- The current direction of the team is contrary to how the other teams play the game, which is the same as how DWG KIA played in the past.
- Due to the head coach forcing his unique philosophies of the game to the team’s gameplay, the team continued to display disorder in their gameplay, resulting in continued losses.
- The head coach continued to decline interviews on the matches they lost, which led to the players having to explain why they lost; even in the interviews that he did himself, he shifted all the blame on the players, resulting in mental pressure for the players.
The statement goes on to say that Daeny is more than replaceable because the team’s coaching staff is already capable of coaching. Furthermore, they demanded the head coach’s resignation because T1 went from fifth place in the Summer split standings with Daeny as head coach for the team in 2021 and top four finish at Worlds 2021 after he was fired.
Fans across LCK have been over-reacting in the past few weeks, the same situation had also occurred for T1 as their fans demanded the changes to T1’s coach prior to Worlds.
