Faker and other Korean pro players become the victim of illegal Chinese betting sites

This issue will cause a negative effect on the ranked experience.

Inven Global recently reported a significant problem on the Korean server. Specifically, from the Master to Challenger ranks, matches that have the appearance of players or streamers who are on lived, can be all included in the list of “bet” by the dealer.

Faker is one of the players that got put on the list the most, with all his matches broadcast on Twitch channel is being bet on. The dealer websites have also completely blocked international IP addresses, yet Inven’s Local China partner has been able to infiltrate this betting line and gather information on these ranked matches.

Not only Faker but also other T1 members were included in this “special” group.

It is worth noting, those “gamblers” also use a very condemning tactic, troll rank, to maximize the odds of earning money.

For high ranked players, they will most likely bet on the losing of Faker’s team, and as soon as they are teamed with him, these players will troll the game to receive the result as they bet. This is also the answer to the reason why in most matches, Faker often encounters his teammates saying “thank you, thank you” repeatedly.

Moreover, some people working on professional sports are also said to relate to these betting sites. In fact, these are people who can take part in high ranked matches and easily arrange the results.

Riot China has been reported about Blue, Legend Esport Gaming (LEG) team manager, who is playing in LDL (China’s 2nd tournament), for coercing all the players in the team involved in the betting and selling. If a member does not consent, he will be pinched.

Some information on Twitter has verified that Blue is involved in the Korean ranking betting line, and the matches that LEG team members are forced to participate in are not just tournament matches, but also ranked games.

Faker recently complained about his teammates in rank matches always trolling the game, preventing him from finding wins. Even, the Demon King bluntly suggested that Riot should seriously reconsider this matter. However, Faker might not realize that these were betting tricks but rather destructive, unconscious behavior.
