Fans complain about Worlds not having Double Elimination like Valorant Champions

The League of Legends World Championship is one of the world’s largest Esports tournaments. However, fans claim that the format is out of date and boring

The largest tournament in League of Legends is about to begin, and for the first time since Covid 19, we will have a live audience from start to finish.

But the LoL Worlds has maintained the same game pattern for years, with teams playing seven best-of-five matchups, followed by a week of no games, which destroys any excitement.

Fans have been asking for years for Riot Games to organize the LoL World Championship with a double-elimination format, to which Riot Games has never replied favorably, other than with hollow words.

However, when it comes to their FPS genre, Riot Games has decided to use a double-elimination format in both the Group Stage and the Playoffs for the Valorant Champions, which has enraged LoL fans.

After all, if Valorant can be structured in this manner, what is to stop League of Legends? Even the people in control appear to be the same Riot staff, some of whom have previously criticized double-elimination.

Riot Games has yet to provide an official explanation for why League of Legends insists on the single-elimination structure. So, for the time being, we can only rule out some options.

Riot may decide that League of Legends does not suit a double-elimination format, but that would be unusual given that certain regional competitions do.

Riot’s complacency with League of Legends appears to be to blame. After all, no other MOBA comes close to League of Legends, and their competitions don’t need to be innovative.
