The League of Legends Development League (LDL), the academy league, and the League of Legends Pro League (LPL) 2022 Summer Split are currently halfway done.
In Week 5, the LDL debuted a brand-new draft game mode called “Fearless.” Seven additional independent teams in the league join the other 17 LPL clubs in fielding an academy roster. The top six teams from each of the two groups comprised of these 24 clubs will advance to the playoffs.
Matches were best-of-ones in the past, but as of July 14, they are now best-of-threes with a twist.
There are new rules that apply instead of the standard select and ban draft process. The same team cannot select any of the champions from game one for game two. The opposing team is free to choose them, though. All of the winners from the first two games will collectively not be available in the series advances to a third game, with the same exception.

The new pick and ban rules were used for the first time during the match between Ultra Prime Academy and Young Miracles on July 14. Additional graphics were added to game two, displaying the 10 champions from game one who had been banned.
Since the opponent team might still choose one of these champions, UP Academy selected Kalista, who was used by Young Miracles in game one. Renata Glasc was also selected by YM in the draft.
The third game of the series between WE Academy and Royal Club included 30 champions who had been prohibited from use in games one and two.
WE Academy chose Trundle in game three over Royal Club, who had chosen Trundle in game one because the other team could still choose champions they hadn’t used. Additionally, Wukong and Gnar, two champions that WE Academy had previously utilized, were free to be selected by Royal Club.

The new Fearless draft mode allows for more variety in squad makeup. It keeps games more intriguing for viewers since it requires each team to field fresh champion picks each time. Teams would also need to be more strategic within themselves. 15 champions are entirely improbable by game three.
Even if the draft system is new to a PC game like League of Legends, mobile games are considerably more likely to use it. Since 2019, Arena of Valor, another Tencent game, has utilized this “Fearless” game mode known as the “Global Ban Pick rule” to heighten the competitive atmosphere in the professional arena.
If a best-of-seven series lasts six games, the rule applies. It is lifted in game seven, and all heroes can be chosen.
