GenG 3 – 0 T1: Welcome GenG to Worlds 2020

The region’s Group Stage spot at Worlds was given to Korea’s 3rd seed because Vietnamese teams being unable to participate.

On 9th September, in LCK Summer 2020 Regional Finals, GenG scored their victory against T1 to become the 3rd seed that will participate in Worlds 2020.

Game Flow – BO5

1st Match

GenG had better advantages in the laning phase, BDD – Azir achieved 5 kills, but at 22′ mark, T1 completely grab the match in their hands by catching Ruler and BDD off-guard at the mid lane and also got them their first Baron. Somehow, GenG didn’t let their opponents snow-ball, at 28′, BDD’s Azir flashed in, used Emperor’s Divine, caught Gumayushi inside the Dragon Pit, and they won the dragon team fight. Mistakes after mistakes, Effort, and Faker were caught and T1 had to accept their defeat in the first match.

2nd Match

T1 changed their tactics! They began to fight much sooner in order to gain early advantages. Despite getting more kills, they are only able to catch their opponents when they are alone. GenG actually won all the important objective team fight throughout game 2. After getting the Baron and Quadra Kill for Ruler at 23′, GenG destroyed T1 and became the 2nd Match Winner.

3rd Match

The flow of the 3rd Match was similar to the others, T1 was able to get a few solo kills but GenG always won when there were important objective team fights. By getting the Rift Herald, Baron, and 4 Dragons, it was obvious GenG completely controlled the situation, ended the 3rd Match before 30 minutes mark.

Highlight Player – Ruler

Although T1 banned 5 Marksman in the 1st Match, Ruler still shined through all T1’s attempts to bring him down. With such outstanding performance, Ruler is the hope of GenG and will bring fresh air into Worlds 2020.
