Gen.G performed a spectacular “flip” and defeated DWG KIA, as well as winning the final spot in the LCK Final versus T1
The other LCK Spring 2022 semi-final featured a match between DWG KIA and Gen.G Esports. After overcoming a number of COVID-related cases, Gen.G has finally reached the LCK 2022 finals. Simultaneously, DWG KIA has been losing and has failed to create synergy among the new players who have joined the roster this year. These two teams have had strong comebacks since making into the playoffs. And, indeed, the semifinal was highly tense and dramatic, deserving of the central encounter between the two current Korean League giants.
In Game 1, both teams maintained a fairly balanced position but Chovy and his teammates were a little bit better at capturing the Dragon, but DK also did not fit when they gained control over the Baron side and took advantage of this to put pressure on Gen.G. At the 38th minute, DK had obtained the Elder Dragon soul and Gen.G accepted defeat even though they had previously acquired the Earth Dragon Soul.
Game 2 begins, and DWG KIA dominated the early game by scoring kills. Gen.G then moved their attention to the fourth dragon in order to delay the soul for DWG KIA, who had already secured the following dragon. Despite the opposition holding the Soul, the team won another amazing teamfight against DK to take a significant lead in the match. With such a large advantage, they were able to capture the Baron, and DWG KIA was unable to win in the last teamfight near the Elder Dragon, bringing the score to 1-1.
Throughout game 3, in most of the team fights, Gen.G is always the team that suffers the more casualties. In particular, the decisive fight in the 35th minute officially extinguished the team’s hope in Game 3 and DK once again rose to the lead. But entering Game 4, Gen.G is the better dragon control team. At the 30th minute, the team has both the Hextech Dragon soul and the Baron. With such huge buffs, it is not difficult for Chovy and his teammates to drag the match through game 5 decider.
The deciding battle was controlled by DWG KIA, who secured kills in opportune ganks and teamfights. Gen.G, on the other hand, appeared to be hopeless. But when DWG KIA overextended in the top lane, Gen.G secured several kills and began contesting the opponent. Chovy earned three picks on the opponents in the last teamfight near Baron, resulting in the Baron bonus flowing to their pockets They stormed through the mid lane and won the final game to go to the championship game.
With this victory, Gen.G advances to the LCK Spring 2022 final, where they will face T1, the undefeated LCK team. With the squad fully restored and a positive attitude following the amazing victory against DK, the team is unquestionably a difficult opponent for Faker and his teammates. The LCK Final will be held on Saturday, April 2nd.
