First, we have to know what is tower diving

Tower Dive:

An attempt to kill an enemy player while they are under protection of their tower.

To have successful tower dive, you want to have more enemy kills than your friendly deaths. To master tower diving, you must know about how Tower in League of Legend work

THE TOWER

Understanding tower’s damage is the crucial component of all diving. It decides how many tower shots you can tank and how long you have to safely execute the dive.

Tower damage

Tower deal attack damage based on the current game time and have bonus armor penetration

Attack damage 152 – 278 (based on minutes)

+30% armor penetration

Because tower damage is AD so champions with large amount of armor are significantly better in tanking than those with magic resistant. The complicate part is that tower ramp up damage over time. Turrets gain 40% damage each time they strike a champion, up to 120%.

This effect doesn’t reset when switching  targets

Counting tower shot or approximate how much damage you will take are important for tower diving. Another tip is do not damage enemy champions from too far within tower range, because then you will need time to approach them while tower shot you 1 or 2 times.

MINIONS

Now you understand how towers work, we can get into the actual set up for tower dive. Unless you are extremely tank, you want to minimize the number of tower shot you take. In order to make this, you need to associate with your minion wave.

As mentioned above, minions will draw tower shot until you hit enemy champion, use this as your advantage. Let minion wave in and take tower aggro, give you time to get in position without take in any unnecessary damage. The more minions you have, the longer you can set up the dive. The minions will also add extra damage to enemy champion. Minions will fight nearby enemy champions if their allies are damaged by enemy. When your opponent attempts to fight back during the dive, your minions will attack them. This is why it is always easier to dive with a stack of minion wave.
