Riot Games has announced a major update coming to League progression system ahead of the beginning of Season 12.
League of Legends preseason has seen a lot of changes. Riot has been updating the game as we know it, with new items, features, and mechanics. While they continue to change the gameplay, the developers opted to change the way League progression system works.
Riot Rovient stated today in a new Quick Gameplay Thoughts blog post that the League events team has readdressed how players earn points to perform objectives during events to get rewards. Hence, players can now earn points based on the amount of time they spend, rather than the amount of game they played.
These missions, many of which came in many stages as part of the premium passes, used to demand players to play — and win — plenty of games that were far too time-consuming. Not all of these event tasks are locked behind passes, however, those with higher prizes sometimes required an insane amount of grinding.
Here’s how the new system works:
- Summoner’s Rift, PvP, ARAM, Event Game Modes: 4 points/min (6 points if win)
- All TFT Modes: 2 points (5th-8th place)/min. 3 points if win (1st-4th place)/min
- Summoner’s Rift, Co-op vs .AI: 1 point/min (2 points if win)
While these are the options for earning points during events, Riot has also announced certain adjustments to the objectives:
- Weekly Wins Missions: 1650 points from playing and winning games.
- Orb Missions: 4500 points
- Token Bank Missions: 400 points
The Event Pass Tokens will also undergo a significant change. Players will no longer get tokens at the end of each game and will instead need to earn 400 points. This will provide players with 20 tokens and may be repeated indefinitely.
