(Very quick and badly written) nevermind I got way too into this to make it quick. Some quick explanation though: Before her rework, Evelynn was just an assassin with magical powers, who happened to have an affair with twisted fate (as I understand it). However, after Eve’s rework, TF still shows up in Evelynn’s Tango and Blood Moon Splash art. This story explains why.
Twisted Fate had a wife, Eva. Years ago she fell terribly ill and fell into a deep coma. So he found a demon and brought Eva to him and made a deal with him in which the demon challenged him to a game of chance where if TF won, the demon would use his powers to heal her. If he lost, the demon would take Eva’s soul. Being the betting man TF is, and being very desperate, he accepted. Ultimately, TF was trickier than the Demon. He managed to rig the bet and won, unbeknownst to the demon. The demon, bound by the deal, healed his wife. No longer comatose and with her strength regained, TF and Eva threw themselves into each other’s open arms and held each other so tightly they could barely breathe. They left the Demon’s lair and lived happily ever after.
Or did they????
As we know, Evelynn thirsts for torment and agony. At this point in the lore though she would not be corporeal. She is still floating around in her intangible magical whisp spirit form, having not yet killed enough to manifest herself fully. However, she happened to wander by Twisted fate and Eva as they were returning home from the Demon’s lair. The spirit sensed their love, their joy, swirling around them with great energy the likes of which she had never seen.
She snuck into their home in the dead of night. The pure, indescribable bliss they radiated as they made love for the first time in years overwhelmed her. She was insatiable. This was the perfect moment. She ripped them from each other’s arms and tore into Eva with lustful fury, ripping flesh from bone. Twisted Fate looked on in horror as Eva’s agonizing screams were drowned out by demonic screeches. He was paralyzed. seconds turned into hours as he was forced to watch his beloved ripped to shreds in front of him.
As the spirit finished with his wife, it turned to him. As its disembodied tendrils collapsed upon him, he ran. He ran until he could run no longer. He ran from the monstrosity he witnessed. He ran from the visions that he knew would haunt him forever. Not a day after his wife was finally with him again, she was murdered in front of his very own eyes. He collapsed by a river and cried himself to sleep.
Years passed. Twisted fate lived alone in the mountains of Ionia. He could not face that wretched day, and could not bear to see another human face again.
Except for one.
In the dead of night, a strange entity appeared before him. It was a beautiful woman, with the softest skin and deep purple eyes, surrounded with an ethereal glow. She whispered to him,
“Don’t be shy….”
She was the first person he had laid his eyes on in years, and she was gorgeous. He could not take his eyes off her. He was frozen as she laced her fingers through his. Why couldn’t he look away? Who was she?
As the hours passed, Evelynn grew bored with her latest prey. There was deep mourning in his soul that she could not distract him from. She lived for the height of their pleasure falling to the depths of their agony, but she just couldn’t get to him. Just as she was about to pull his tongue out through his neck, and wander off for happier prey he looked deep into her eyes and whispered,
“You look like someone I used to know”
She knew it was him. On that fateful night, Evelynn had feasted with such voracity that she was able to take on a human form, to hunt the greatest game: The lust of humans. She rather fancied the face of Twisted Fate’s wife and decided to take her form. Now she understood the wonderful, agonizing, opportunity she had stumbled upon.
She softened her gaze and lay with him all night, whispering sweet nothings in his. His bitter loneliness collided with the soothing, hypnotic visions of his long lost wife. Evelynn felt it. This was the perfect storm. She could lead him on forever, she could watch him melt into her arms as the agony burned behind his eyes. She could live off this forever.
