With the return of Nexus Blitz, Riot Games has adapted Ivern to align with the characteristics of this revived game mode. A recent dev log from Riot unveiled that Nexus Blitz is set to make a comeback in League of Legends with patch 13.21.
Originally introduced as an experimental game mode during Season 8, Nexus Blitz reappeared in Season 10 during the Spirit Blossom event, featuring the unique map, The Temple of Lily and Lotus.
The defining aspect of Nexus Blitz was its random events occurring every 3 minutes, including activities like Bardle Royale, Push the Cart, Deathmatch, and more. Winning these events granted various buffs to the victorious team, such as summoning the Poro King or enhancing turrets and cannon minions.
Although Nexus Blitz was temporarily disabled, Riot attempted to bring it back in Season 12, facing technical challenges that prevented its return. Now, as the mode resurfaces in the upcoming patch, several champions will undergo mode-specific adjustments, including Ivern.
New Ivern changes for Nexus Blitz mode
Ivern’s existing passive, Friend of the Forest, prevents him from damaging neutral monster camps. Instead, he must plant a grove, and upon maturation, he can collect XP and gold from the monster, causing it to disappear.
However, in Nexus Blitz, where two junglers exist per team, the map’s nuances make Ivern’s passive ineffective. Consequently, the last time Nexus Blitz was enabled, Ivern was disabled for the mode.
New passive: Enemy of the Forest
- It’s time for Ivern’s revenge. Ivern can damage monsters, and they can damage him.
In this iteration, Riot is introducing a new passive for Ivern called Enemy of the Forest. This alteration allows Ivern to damage neutral monster camps, prompting them to retaliate and transforming him into a more traditional jungler.
This adjustment opens the door for players to fully enjoy Ivern in the upcoming Nexus Blitz mode, overcoming the limitations posed by his previous passive in the context of this dynamic game mode.
