Jankos will appear in Team Heretics Roster for LEC 2023

Jankos has now been able to land a position with Team Heretics for 2023 after being benched by G2 and constrained by a large buyout.

Over the course of his career, Jankos has established the bar for European junglers. After being benched by G2, he was expected to be a hotly disputed pick for the LEC because he was the only EU jungler to win an international title in League of Legends in the modern era (MSI 2019).

However, because of the substantial buyout imposed on his contract, it was uncertain whether Jankos would find a team eager to make that investment. At one point during the off-season, he was even thinking about switching to streaming full-time for a year.

According to numerous sources, Team Heretics and G2 have now reached a buyout agreement, and Team Heretics intends to start Jankos for their LEC debut.

Jankos has been active as a player for a long time. Nevertheless, throughout his tenure at G2, he has consistently been a top-tier jungler. Jankos competed internationally and gave his all to help the team succeed, even though they didn’t do well overall in Worlds 2022.

Even though he is one of the top junglers in the area, it was uncertain whether anyone would be able to pay the buyout price for him. for Jankos as well.

But according to numerous rumors, Team Heretics was prepared to pay that buyout in addition to awarding Jankos a new contract, enabling him to compete

The first news came from Blix.gg’s own Alejandro Gomis, and it was quickly followed by LEC Wooloo’s report that Jankos had joined the new LEC group. Blix initially stated that there was a $100k buyout agreement, but it has since been made clear that this sum is somewhat nebulous and subject to change depending on a number of factors.

The selection of Jankos isn’t Team Heretics’ only surprise. According to rumors, DFM’s Evi would be the first Japanese import player in LEC history to join Team Heretics.
