What’s Jhin massive nerfs in LoL Patch 14.20?

Riot Games is preparing to nerf one of the most popular ADCs in League of Legends, Jhin, following the recent Worlds patch.

Since his introduction in 2016, Jhin has been a fan favorite, not just because of his unique gameplay, but also due to his distinct design and fascinating lore. Despite going through periods of being weaker in certain patches, he has consistently remained a strong pick in the game.

At the beginning of this season, ADCs were struggling and were considered to be in a relatively weak state. As the season progressed, the ADC role became more balanced, and the frequency of off-meta picks decreased. Despite this balance, certain ADC champions have remained extremely powerful and are consistently picked across all ranks. One such champion is Jhin.

Currently, according to League statistic site OP.GG, Jhin boasts a remarkable 31.10% pick rate and a solid 51.70% win rate at the time of writing. When played skillfully, this champion can be a dominant force, especially in the early stages of the game.

Recently, Riot’s lead game designer, Phroxzon, revealed the patch notes for Patch 14.20, where Jhin is set to receive substantial nerfs. The most significant change is to his late-game power, which is being toned down heavily. His AD growth per level is being reduced, a change that will impact him throughout the game. While this nerf could affect Jhin in all stages of play, its severity will likely depend on the items he builds.

The most noticeable adjustment, however, is to Jhin’s ultimate ability. In the late game, the damage output of his ultimate will be significantly reduced, making the difference in power more apparent. Although skilled players may be able to adapt to these changes, the nerfs are enough to make him less dominant, and he may no longer be considered a top-tier pick.

These nerfs are set to arrive with Patch 14.20, which will be released on Wednesday, October 9, 2024.
