K/DA make fans feel “progressively more cringe as it has gone on”

This time, even K/DA can not make us feel any better.

As League of Legends celebrated its 10th anniversary this year, fans proved that they have fed up with Riot Games. This can be proved by countless articles and posts on Reddit every day about bad balancing, bad game development and the horrible current situation of League of Legends game client with so many bugs and lags that can leave the oldest fans feel disappointed. The only bright side of Riot Games within recent years is their excellent job in marketing and media productions for promoting the games. At some point, the community has started to call them “A music/ entertainment production company” rather than a game company. It would be a waste if we don’t mention one of their most successful products – the League of Legends virtual K-Pop group: K/DA.

Recently, their only strength seems to also make fans disappointed as well. More particularly, a post on Reddit by u/GarnetDivine expressed disappointment towards newest media productions from Riot Games, including interviews with characters from K/DA members and photos on League of Legends official Twitter account which the post addressed as “cringey” and “bad quality”.

“The music videos and stuff were cool, same with the skins and the music itself. But now we’re getting these weird “interviews” with the characters, and it’s just getting more and more cringey to me.

Take this Akali one for example. Using a different voice actress than both the singer or her in game character, she sounds like a 13 year old trying to sound cool. The animation on all of these is getting worse and worse, she looks like an animated Ps2 character. I legitimately think they are using some form of the face-tracking webcam software that just places a 3D character over someone else, that’s how bad it looks.

And don’t get me started with the poorly photoshopped people using hand drawn K/DA heads. And yes, this is from the official K/DA website, not fan made. I can’t see how that was approved by anyone to post, it looks so bad. I really thought all of the videos and posts I have been seeing were fan made, but nope, Riot is responsible for them.

I liked K/DA and what it started out as, and I still do to an extent, but this just seems super desperate to appeal to a younger audience and it’s comical to me.

Edit: Saying “this isn’t made for you, it’s for K/DA fans” doesn’t even apply, because I said I liked K/DA right out the gate. It’s the poorly made videos and promos that are bothersome, not because of what it is, but because it looks so rushed and thrown together last second for a cash grab that it’s almost insulting to people who legitimately enjoyed it. As a K/DA fan I AM THE INTENDED AUDIENCE and what is being made SUCKS.”

This year, Riot Games announced a huge campaign in association with famous singers and bands such as TWICE in making music videos and media products to promote for the skin line. They even created a Twitter account for Seraphine in order to introduce this champion to the game as well as comics about K/DA and other productions on social medias.

The huge ammount of work can be part of the reason for these bad products in the campaign. This could be an alarm for them in the near future, to considering quality over quantity, as in 2017, only the MV POP/STAR has already rocked Youtube for months after their offcial release.
