LCK implements extra security in LoL Park after teams receive threats

The League of Legends LCK improves the security of its LoL Park venue

LCK will begin installing extra safety measures in LoL Park today in order to give more safety to participating professional players.

LoL Park is the league’s major arena in Seoul, and security will be strengthened following threats made against teams and players in recent weeks.

“Recently, we have been informed of threats to the personal safety of LCK teams and players. The LCK finds these absolutely unacceptable. We cannot overlook these incidents and will take action by filing reports and requesting investigations.”

When considering the proximity of the audience to the stage in the LCK Arena, it has been decided to preemptively implement the following measures to protect the safety of players and visitors.”

The move from LCK is in reaction to some of the recent threats received by players and their organizations from supporters. One of the most significant occurrences involves kt Rolster.

According to reports, overwhelming fans have made violent threats, sent firearms to kt Rolster and spread false information about the team across the area.

The organization called it a “violation of rights” and even issued a statement on social media about it. As a result, Korean League will not ignore when it comes to player and audience safety, which is why they will increase security for the league.

Fans attending the LoL Park arena will now have to go through additional security checks before entering. Special security officers will be on hand, and attendees will be subjected to comprehensive bag searches as well as regular metal detector screenings.

Threats against players have increased significantly over the previous few seasons. Even Faker was subject to this behavior, raising concerns across the Korean League.
