LCK Spring 2023: T1 dominates KDF in a frenzy 5-ADC game

T1 destroyed KDF in a 2-0 game to increase their advantage at the top of the 2023 LCK Spring Split standings. However, in the second game, a total of 5 AD carries were picked by 2 teams in a frenzied game

Both teams picked long-ranged, offensive bot lane compositions; Kwangdong Freecs picked Jhin and Ashe, while T1 picked Varus and Kalista. Additionally, KDF BuLLDoG picked an additional ADC, Tristana, in the midlane, making five AD carry champions in a single match. Even so, T1 continued to dominate the game with ease.

As the laning phase began and came to a close, T1’s jungler Oner was concentrated on ganking the bottom lane in order to gather resources on Gumayusi’s Varus, who was a crucial part of their comps.

The bot-jungle pair had plenty of time to concentrate on that because Faker and Zeus were getting along just fine on their own. It was successful because Gumayusi, the T1 team’s strongest player, guided his team to a win after 29 minutes and a 2-0 series lead.

In earlier years, it might have been unexpected to see five AD carriers, but that’s not the case in the current meta. Since tank and other traditional supports aren’t that strong anymore, bot lane duos frequently choose two AD carriers to maximize their poke potential in the lanign phase and teamfight skills in the late game.

The devs have been trying to revive traditional supports with some Patch 13.4 buffs to them. Today’s match was the first one in the 2023 LCK Spring Split to be played on that patch. Although it doesn’t appear to have altered the pattern sufficiently to remove AD carry supports from normal professional play.

Nevertheless, with that victory, T1 extends their streak to 12-1 and now leads the 2023 LCK Spring Split.
