Declaring to "break TheShy's Arm", LGD Gaming Staff Was Subsequently Fired

A very condemnable unsportsmanlike conduct.

Before the LPL 2020 Summer playoff quarter-finals match between LGD Gaming and Invictus Gaming began, an LGD employee shared a post on his personal Weibo account with offensive material threatening IG top laner, TheShy.

“I just met some of the IG members, I wanted to go over and smash TheShy’s arm broken.
Although I couldn’t bear to do so, perhaps there’s no other way.”

While the post was modified as “friends only,” it was quickly spotted out by IG fans, leading to a wave of outrage. And though he had clarified that it was merely a joke, his statement is obviously unacceptable to all LPL and IG fans.

Needless to mention the level of speech aggression, but even its content indicates a direct threat to the mental and health of the player. Thereafter and, LGD Gaming immediately made a public apology to TheShy, team IG and their fans.

The department confirmed that the aforementioned staff was also disciplined the harshest, who was subsequently terminated and had to write a formal apology message.

LGD Gaming has posted an apology to TheShy and team IG, yet announcing the above dismissal

“First of all, I would really like to extend my sincere apologies to TheShy and IG eSports Club.

Before the LGD vs. IG matchup on August 16, we received complaints from fans that one of our staff had posted unqualified comments on social media. Their judgment is entirely correct.

As part of the organization, you have to comply with professional ethics, concentrate on your business, always correct your words and behavior, and show the professional qualities that you deserve. Therefore, after internal discussions within the team, the staff mentioned was forced to present a public apology and was fired.

We welcome the surveillance by online community, which will improve LGD’s monitoring of the words and behavior of employees to avoid any such incidents.

LGD Gaming.”

This man then apologized on his personal Weibo and clearly explained it was a joke, did not mean to offend TheShy.

Whereas LGD has a convincing victory over IG, the employee’s status really has created a stigma on the team’s success, especially in the context of the anti-cyberbullying campaign that is expanding from South Korea to China, with a number of activities to protect eSports players against social networks attacks.

Thankfully, LGD’s prompt move prevented everything from being too far pushed, and TheShy is not affected by the incident too mentally.
