League fans continue to criticize new Rank borders being a “complete downgrade”

Even after the latest changes on loading screen rank borders set to be released in patch 12.5 still isn’t good enough for the players

As part of the new season, Riot Games confirmed that they would be working on the new Progression Identity so that players will be able to display their achievements through new profile customization. Though, of all of these modifications, the new rank borders are the one that captures the eye of players the most as it has been such a “downgrade” redesign.

Players all around the globe weren’t exactly fond of this, one specific Reddit user by the name u/Clasher212421, addressed the ranked borders modifications in a detailed post that was uploaded on the official League of Legends subreddit forum.

For players that choose to engage in ranked games to exhibit their skills and experience, these rank borders served as their huge achievements to their skills, but they do not appear to be as prominent this year.

“The colors are off”; “Flat, boring and uninspired. Not something you would expect from the same company that made the old ones and also made Arcane”; “The new rankup animation is underwhelming”; “It looks like a mobile game”…

And that is only a few criticisms from one person. Apparently, many League players agreed with the author feelings in the comments, stating that the modifications had taken away the joy they used to experience when progressing through the game’s many rankings. Aside from all the rewards when coming to an end of a season, many players believe that the climb is no longer enjoyable since they are unable to effectively reflect their improvement as “pro”.

Riot Games has recently made an effort to redesign the loading screen rank borders and said that it is ready to launch in patch 12.5, but players are yet to please with it. Other profile customization features mentioned last year, such as the chance to equip numerous icons and the new achievements feature, have yet to be implemented on live servers.
