League of Legends 2025 MSI (Mid-Season Invitational): Details, Hosting, and More

League of Legends 2025 MSI details

As the 2024 League of Legends World Championship nears its thrilling finale, Riot Games is already unveiling plans for the 2025 season, packed with changes to the competitive scene.

One of the biggest announcements is that the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) will be held in Canada for the first time, bringing international League action back to NA after a long absence.

During a press briefing before the Worlds 2024 Finals, Chris Greeley, Riot’s Global Head of Strategy, expressed excitement about the decision:

“We’re thrilled to announce that Canada will host next year’s MSI.”

He highlighted that the event’s return to Canada after years will give North American fans a unique chance to experience high-stakes international competition. The MSI will bring together ten top teams from five key regions, each competing to secure their place in history and an important path to Worlds.

The last major League event held in Canada was the LCS Spring Finals back in 2017, and fans have been eager for esports to return. Riot plans to reveal the host city for MSI in January 2025, adding to the anticipation.

As the second major international tournament of the season, MSI will follow First Stand, Riot’s newly announced season-opener, which was also introduced at the same briefing.

Scheduled from March 10 to March 17, First Stand promises a fresh competitive experience with its innovative Fearless Draft format. Under this system, teams can select each champion only once across a best-of-five series. The details of the First Stand announcement can be viewed in this article here.

With only one representative from each of the five regions—LCK, LPL, LEC, LTA, and LCP—First Stand is set to reignite regional rivalries. The tournament aims to set the competitive tone early, while MSI in Canada will give fans another chance to witness their favorite teams on the big stage. Together, these events mark an exciting evolution in the League of Legends esports calendar for 2025.
