League of Legends: Champion Roadmap – Who are these champions?

Every few months, Riot publishes the LoL Champion Roadmap. We get new hints on upcoming League of Legends champions, reworks, and much more that Riot is working on through the roadmap.

For now, there is no precise number that has been revealed yet for new LoL champions, but we do believe that in 2023 we should get the same amount as in 2022. Having four or five new champions every year is doable as for Riot’s schedule.

We already know that Naafiri will be the next champion to be introduced in League of Legends. Naafari, as previously stated, will be a mid-lane assassin. Instead of the intricate mechanics that we often see in assassins, Naafiri will choose a macro play style, delivering AD damage with a dagger. But, what we are all interesting is the follow-up champions after Naafiri.

Briar – The ‘Hangry’ Champion

Following Naafiri, Riot will release Briar, a new jungle champion, and most fans predict that this “hangry” champion will be some form of Vampire from Noxus.

Riot August, the lead champion designer, discovered the abandoned mechanism from Naafiri and determined it had to be used. August supposedly has long been a fan of a specific mythological monster, and this hunger mechanic worked well for her.

Briar is probably definitely a sort of Noxian vampire. She is a Diver/Skirmisher champion, according to Riot Games. And, given how much Riot has teased the concept of frenzy, we can probably expect her kit to centre around stacking her hunger into some kind of frenzy. A semi-feral vampire hiding around Noxus seems extremely possible.

The Ink Mage

A new mid-lane mage is also under development. This champion concept, however, is not new, and Riot is bringing back some old concepts. They intended to develop a champion that could physically sketch their skills a few years back.

The champion’s notion of drawing has been verified in the most recent champion roadmap. While it was time for the champion to be teased with his own artwork, Riot has stated that they are still waiting on the champion himself to provide us with his own drawing.

What we can confirm is that he is a male champion from Ionia with a dark past, a solemn personality, and vibrant art.
