The storyline of Arcane Season 2 builds on the lore of League of Legends, bringing back familiar champions. Some of these characters have prominent roles, while others appear subtly as Easter eggs for dedicated fans to spot.
Champions in Act 1 of Arcane Season 2
Ambessa Medarda
A new face in Arcane, Ambessa brings intense Noxian politics to Piltover, using her influence on the Council to advocate for Hextech against Zaun. As the mother of Mel, she’s involved in strategies to provoke Piltover’s elite into cracking down on Zaun. By episode three, Ambessa boldly supports Caitlyn, asking her Noxian forces to assist Caitlyn’s goals.
Caitlyn
Now a general tasked with neutralizing Zaun, Caitlyn’s once soft nature hardens after losing her mother. Her relationship with Vi is strained, and her evolution will be intriguing as she navigates her grief and responsibilities.
Ekko
Ekko, still leading the Firelights, collaborates with Heimerdinger to find a cure for the corruption affecting their tree. Together, they venture into Jayce’s lab, hoping to unlock Hextech’s secrets.
Heimerdinger
Alongside Ekko, Heimerdinger aids Jayce, studying an anomaly in an underground gemstone mesh affecting Hextech. His wisdom guides the investigation into the Arcane’s mysteries.
Jinx
Embracing chaos, Jinx partners with Sevika after Silco’s death. They make a deadly duo, highlighted by Jinx’s customized explosives in action scenes. A tense moment with Vi occurs when Vi hesitates to let Caitlyn target Jinx, hinting at more conflict to come.
Jayce
Planning to exit the Piltover Council, Jayce’s struggles intensify when Viktor leaves him to seek a personal path. Jayce works with Ekko and Heimerdinger on Arcane research and equips the Enforcers, including Vi, with new Hextech weapons to find Jinx.
Viktor
Viktor undergoes a transformation after the Hexcore merges with his body, restoring him. However, the Hexcore also harms a lab colleague, leading Viktor to leave Jayce and head to Zaun. There, a mysterious voice calls him, and his new abilities attract attention as he heals a Shimmer addict, casting him as a “messiah” figure.
Vi
Now an Enforcer, Vi reluctantly joins forces with Piltover against Zaun. After Ambessa’s attack, she accepts Caitlyn’s offer and receives Hextech-enhanced gauntlets from Jayce. A close fight with Jinx tests her loyalties and impacts her relationship with Caitlyn.
Singed
Singed has a brief appearance, hinting at experiments that involve Murkwolves’ essence and chemtech. By the end of Act 1, Warwick—likely his latest creation—is poised for release in Zaun.
Easter Eggs: Warwick, Janna, and LeBlanc
Act 1 also teases several characters. Warwick, hinted at in Singed’s lab, is set to confront Vi in Zaun. Janna, the wind spirit, appears in artwork on walls, foreshadowing her presence. LeBlanc’s Black Rose organization controls Amara, hinting at Noxus’s deeper motives for Mel and Ambessa.
The first act of Arcane Season 2 is now streaming, with Act 2 releasing on Nov. 16.
