One fact is that Ivern is the least-used jungler champion in the game. Ivern play rate is currently less than 1%, almost the lowest of the 145 game champions (according to the statistics of op.gg).
However, we are about to change this mindset when Riot recently revealed some potential changes to Ivern.
Game designer of Riot Games – Blake “Squad5” Smith noted that the upcoming changes for Ivern are aimed at “putting something with potential for pre-season”. However, Squad5 does not guarantee that these changes will definitely be made and specific time but we can be confident that Ivern can revive in meta.
They will focus on improving the quality of champion to increase accessibility, attracting more players.
First of all, Ivern will always be a long-handed general instead of parallel between melee and long range while in the bush. Therefore, his W is also being changed so that he cannot increase the range of attacks. Instead, allied champions in the grass created by Ivern players will receive additional magic damage.
The last major change that Ivern is about to receive is related to the Ultimate R. Daisy will no longer be in control, instead Daisy will fight enemies anywhere summoned during her entire lifetime and will prioritize the nearest enemy as a target. Even so, Ivern can still make Daisy jump to her target when paired with Q.
Squad5 says that players always complain that controlling Daisy is too difficult. Therefore, creating an uncontrolled version of Daisy allows Riot to power Daisy or give Ivern’s skill set as a trade-off.
Riot game developers have also rewritten Daisy’s script with the hope of minimizing possible future bugs.
Currently, these big changes for Ivern are still not certain whether they will come true in the future, and if so, it will probably be adjusted quite a lot. We also do not know the specific time of the change, but it is likely to be the pre-season period.
At least Ivern players are comforted to learn that Riot still cares for the general, rather than forgetting so much that he almost wipes out the game.
